With our website in the middle of changing we were not able to make a journal entry but we are now able to make some entries.

Note that all proceeds from our fundraising events go to helping our families that are referred to us from the social workers from Children's (Minneapolis) and the U of M Amplatz Childrens. Our goal this year was 26 families and we will surpass that number as it is so hard with the economy for all of these families going through these journies.

Blair's Tree of Hope does not have any paid employees everyone that is part of our foundation are volunteers for which we are so thankful for.

Upcoming events:

Hopkins Raspberry Festival Booth July 17, 2010. Our booth will be located between 8th & 9th on Main Street in Hopkins, MN. Items for sale will be our beautiful Hope bracelets with matching earrings that were designed by our very own Deb Lubotina, knitted and crocheted wash clothes - come early as these will go fast, Pillowcases, quilts, floating frames. We also will have pillowcases that are made with this beautiful angel material that we are looking for folks to purchase and donate back to us to donate to a child in the hospital. During Blair's journey she would not even use the pillowcases at the hospital as they are made of very thin material and not soft at all. If you purchase one of the pillowcases you can fill out a donation form so we can make sure that the recipient knows who donated the pillowcase to them. So Help us to Help Other People Everyday.

We are so thrilled to have been selected as "Super Team of the Month" by the www.superbub.org, thank you for selecting Blair's Tree of Hope this is an honor.

We are excited as our college students are all heading home if they are not already home by now. To think that Blair would have been finishing her first year at college hard to imagine - the good news is she watched over each of her friends and was with them everyday in their hearts and spirit. So welcome back to all of your wonderful youngster we missed you dearly and can not wait to see you..... Katie, Molly, Jessica, Rachel, Lauren, Jenny, Ali and many others...we love you all...

We are so thrilled to tell you that Chase Banken has finished his Cancer Treatment and his family is throwing him a "Cancer Survivor" party this weekend. Tom and I will be attending to help them celebrate - what an honor...Chase is also one of our 2011 Calendar kids...

In a typical month we receive 1 maybe 2 applications from the social workers from the U of M Amplatz Children's Hospital or Minneapolis Childrens. In the month of April we have received 10 applications total from both of the these hospitals. Our goal for this year is 26 and so far we have helped 18 families and it is only part way there. Now this is our main mission and in addition to this we bring weekly snacks, toiletries, books, magazines and our monthly crafting event at the U of M Amplatz.

So as you can see the need for assistance for the families is huge and if you are willing and able to donate any target gift cards, gas cards, visa cards or money that would help us in our mission to Helping Other People Everyday!.

We were not selected by Cities 97 Sampler to receive a grant from them this year and we are so thankful that we were allowed to apply. I am sure it was a very difficulat decision for them and we congratulate those non-profits that were selected. So we are very busy trying to focus on fundraisers to help us to Help Other People Everyday!

Family Photo Day at the U of M Amplatz Children's hospital on 3/13/2010 was a huge success. Total of 7 families had their pictures taken and what great pictures were taken. Thank you to Crelly and McMahon family for making this possible for these families. Pictures are such memory keepers.

Family Photo Day is set for tomorrow 3/13/2010 at the U of M Amplatz Hospital 5th floor. This is being done not only to take family photos of the patients and their families but in memory of Bernard McMahon (Teris dad) he so loved family and family pictures. Our photographer Tom Anderson will do a fantastic job as he has done in the previous family photo shoots.

If you like playing Volleyball we are working with the Great Marrowthon that will be held at the Hopkins Lindbergh Center, Hopkins, MN on 2/27/2010 opening ceremonies start at 11am. If you want to bring a team to participate in this event, you can contact Mary Henschel at Mary@hopkinsjuniorsvolleyball.com. This event is about playing Volleyball and a Marrow Drive. BTOH will be helping out at the Bone Marrow Drive so if you have been wanting to sign up to be a donor this is your chance and there is no cost to you.

Last night BTOH was invited to set up a table at the MN Zoo to meet the many families of the Mpls & St. Paul Hemoc/Onc clinics. We had a great time and met lots of folks and did a lot of networking.

The second Saturday of every month BTOH hosts an event at the U o f M Amplatz 5th Floor. We invite all families and the patients to come in and do some scrapbooking, card making and making bracelets. Our goal with this is to give everyone a little variety to get out of their room and do something outside of their childs room. We typically get about 15 folks who come in and sit and work on many types of projects. Our March event will be a little different we are inviting families to come in and have a family picture taken by our house photographer Tom Anderson. This event is being hosted by Teri Crelly and her family in memory of her dad Bernie McMahon who believed in family pictures.

One of the emails that we received is from a volunteer at the U of M Amplatz who said she takes kids for walks around the floor so they can find all of the little treasurers that BTOH brings to them.

Our event last night was a HUGE success in more ways then one....folks got to meet our 2010 Calendar Kids and even get their autographs....check out our facebook page for the pictures.

Thank you to our board members, their families, volunteers, friends and to everyone who attended we hope you had a great time as we did...

A very special Thank you to Blair as we know she was there in every way and she made sure that the weather was good...she was smiling and thanking each of you for helping us to Help Other People Everyday!

We were very lucky that Kidsdance came and entertained the youngster and boy did they have a great time...I read one mom's comment that her son loved it when they got to make "farting noises" with their arm pits...one young lady said it was the best party she had ever been to....the eating of the cupcakes was hilarous...

Thank you to Maddie Binning for the kids activities corner that she put together and ran throughout the night with the help of her friends...the kids truly enjoyed this part as well.

We had some great silent auction baskets one for every month plus a few additional ones...thank you to everyone who bid and bought these baskets.

We will begin working on our BTOH 2011 Calendar so watch your emails to find out if you have been selected as one of our kids or if you have already been notified you will be receiving an email with the next step of the process. Why a calendar?

As most cancer families know, the days turn into weeks, than to months and for some years and with each of these we learn about HOPE!

Each of our calendar kids have their own stories similar but different and during each week, month and year they had HOPE!

Well another year has passed and BTOH has accomplished alot this year - we have surpassed our goal of the number of families that we have helped, we continue to bring toiletries, magazines, snacks, and we have our monthly crafting event for families at the U of M on the 5th floor our new thing this past year is taking the family photos and we are so thrilled to be able to bring these memories to these families. Our little Adrian was quite the model along with his siblings - they were all hams....Tom really drew the feelings from the pictures - they gripped at your heart - made you smile....

Thank you so many folks who have helped us to achieve our goals for this year and we look forward to working with you this next year as well. You know the words "without your helping us we are able to "Help Other People Everyday" We know it is a tough year the economy has not been the best but we can all pull together and do this.

Our first annual Calendar Release Party is coming up on 1/9/2010 and we are so excited for so many reasons, we get to introduce these wonderful kids to all of you - show you what HOPE did for them...and we will be introducing our kids for our 2011 calendar....

We will start out with an hour of getting autographs from our Calendar kids, during this time as well as folks can check out our silent auction items, there will be a kids area with wonderful activities so the parents can relax and socialize with other families....we will then enjoy a wonderful Pasta Buffet, salad, fruit, rolls and we will have appetizers during social hour, during dinner we will listen to some great music, then we will introduce each of our kids (yes you will need to come up to the front)after dinner there will be some dancing and we will be closing out the silent auction and continue enjoying some great dancing - family time folks...we worked very hard to keep our costs down as we want families to come and enjoy themselves together.... We are excited about our silent auction items - one for every month of the year so we have themed baskets....pretty exciting.... We have lots of wonderful silent auction items...and we have a couple of Cities 97 Samplers that a couple of lucky folks will leave with....when you buy your calendar you might check for the gold star as you could be a winner...check out our information on our website and let us know as soon as possible if you want to come and Help us to Help other People Everyday!

I would ask that if you have never been to Panera Bread tha perhaps you check the out. Panera Bread has a program called "Day End Doughnation" and what this is at the end of each day they either throw away all of their product or give it to a Non-Profit who in turn gives to those at hospitals, Ronald McDonald House and shelters. There is a brand new one on Plymouth Road-Ridgedale, Minnetonka and Blair's Tree of Hope is one of the non-profits who picks up from them. Right now we are picking up twice a week and we know that Children's, U of M Fairview BMT (5th Floor) and Ronald McDonald House enjoy these treats. If you know of a Non-Profit that is looking to give food to the homeless or shelters this is the place for you. You would just goto Panera Breads website and find the information on their programs.

One of our Board Members Mary Kay Myrmel picks up the other nights that we don't and she has a list of places that she takes the product too.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all - what blessings we all have to be thankful for....

I am thankful to God that I have been blessed with meeting and knowing you all some I have not met face to face but have become good friends through email, caringbridge and facebook....

Our thanksgiving dinner that will be served to the families at the U of M Fairview Children's Unit 5D (BMT) is all set to go and we are planning on serving about 70 people as they have a full house. A special thank you to several folks for helping to make this dinner possible: Wagner's Drive Inns, Jim Wagner, Lampson & Tews, Inc., Sysco Foods of MN, Baker Sales, Lion Club, Vern Harjes.

"Hope" It's one of our most vital emotions. Cancer survivors call it, "Life's parachute". The moment you embrace the gift of hope, your cancer success story begins - for hope is the opposite of despair. Hope affirms we're here for each other, and it comes from all quarters. From the doctor who fights for us, the nurses who care for us, the volunteers who rally for us and the friends and family who love and believe in us.

As I sit here and am preparing for our Saturday Monthly event at the U of M Fairview, 5th Floor I am so very thankful for so many things. I am thankful that we are able to have these events so the families have a chance to get out of their rooms and make cards, scrapbooks and bracelets...I am thankful to Panera Bread for selecting BTOH as one of their non-profits that they "doughnate" their end of day product which we have been taking to Children's (8th Floor), U of M Fairview BMT Unit and RMH and this week a few shelters for families..I am thankful to all of the wonderful folks who work with us especially our board members and volunteers as we would not be who we are without them..and lastly I am thankful to God for giving us this opportunity to Help Other People Everyday!

We have been busy planning our Thanksgiving dinner that we will once again be serving to the families at the U of M Fairview BMT Unit (5D)... Thank you to Jim Wagner of Wagners who will be catering our dinner for us and it is going to be an excellent dinner for the families, doctors, nurses and other staff....

Our 2nd full year of being a 501c3 nonprofit foundation has ended and we are so full of Hope and love and it is thanks to all of our wonderful family, friends and supporters for without all of you we would not have been able to help over 18 families this year. Last year we helped 10 families and this year we were able to increase that number by 8.

We have seen a huge drop in donations and giving due to the economy but we will keep plugging along to keep helping our families everyday! This will not stop us we will keep searching and working with our supporters to make this happen. As a 501c3 Foundation your donations to BTOH is a tax donation.

A very special Thank you to Ken Waldron who has served as our President for the last two years. Ken you brought us through alot especially with our being a new foundation. You have achieved alot in the past two years and we know you will continue Helping Other People Everyday.

Glad Products (www.glad.com) is matching ALL MONEY up to $100,000 raised by Cookies for Kids Cancer in November and December. The company is promoting their support of Cookies for Kids Cancer in full page magazine ads in womens publications including Good Housekeeping, Family Circle and Womans Day. In addition Joan Cusack, the celebrity spokesperson who is working with the brand to publicize the promotion, will be on the Today Show on November 10th and Martha Stewarts TV show on November 11th talking about the importance of pediatric cancer research. More than a million packages of Glad products will be hitting stores in early November with the Cookies for Kids Cancer logo and information about the promotion. It is a tremendous opportunity.

Cancer sucks no matter what kind cancer is cancer that is a fact.

September was childhood cancer awareness month and October is Breast Cancer awareness month. It is great that there are months for special awareness of these cancers. How do we promote Childhood cancer like Breast Cancer is promoted? I mean yogurt has the pink ribbon as well as if you save the caps you can submit them for donation to the Breast Cancer foundation. The statistics of Childhood Cancer grows higher and higher everyday which is so sad. What do we have to do to promote the awareness of this dreadful disease? I tell you what the product that final decides to stand behind promoting the awareness of Childhood Cancer is going to be glad they did.

Macy's Shop For A Cause was a great success for our foundation and we thank Macy's for giving us this opportunity.

Today Tom and I were at Cub Foods and the Susan Komen 3 day breast cancer group was there bagging everyones groceries and accepting donations from folks and also the Cub Scouts were selling their popcorn so it was a busy day at Cub Foods not only selling food but giving great groups an opportunity to raise funds for their cause. Thank you to Cub Foods for giving cause's this opportunity.
